Sustainable eyewear organisation Sea2See has opened its first branded eyewear store in Barcelona, Spain. Founder and CEO François van den Abeele plans to further expand into retail as the brand continues to see fast-paced growth and support from consumers.
Located at Carrer Major de Sarria, 67 in the Catalan city, the new store stocks the complete marine waste collection by Sea2See which includes more than 135 models of frames for kids and adults, ophthalmic and sunglasses, made in Italy using 100% certified recycled marine plastic.
To date, van den Abeele says that the collection is already stocked in over 2850 optical stores worldwide including 125 in Canada. He plans to move into the USA, Australia and India in the next year.
Sea2See Eyewear is produced using recycled marine waste, collected by fishermen through agreements with port authorities in Spain and France. The company is beginning to work increasingly on recycling projects further afield and is currently growing a program for waste collection in Ghana, West Africa which gives opportunity to local communities for a new source of income.
