Kirk & Kirk are celebrating 100 years in optics with the launch of the Centena Collection produced in acrylic. The family business started in 1919 when Sidney and Percy Kirk converted a dilapidated sewing machine into a lens cutter. Today the British brand goes from strength to strength as one of the most wearable trend-led independent UK collections, focusing on daring, statement colour. “The new Centena Collection celebrates our 100-year history but is directed firmly towards the future, highlighting the unique qualities of the Kirk & Kirk special grade of Italian acrylic,” says Jason Kirk. “This noble material weighs very little compared to acetate, so Centena will be hand-crafted in chunky 10mm acrylic but, despite the substantial look, the frames weigh next to nothing and are delightfully comfortable to wear.” The ten shapes and ten vivid colours are released this month for the new season.
