Li abbiamo sempre chiamati "impropriamente" Google Glass ma fino ad ora il vero nome degli occhiali a realtà aumentata di casa Google erano denominati Project Glass.   Da pochi giorni Google ha invece ufficializzato il nome "Google Glass" forse proprio per segnalare che non si tratta più di un "progetto" ma di realtà. Gli occhiali sono infatti già stati in più occasioni testati per esempio da Maurizio Pesce per la rivista "Wired" che ha avuto l'opportunità di indossarli per una giornata a New York. Pesce ha riportato che non sono per nulla invasivi e che, se lasciati "in stand-by propongono l'ora e, scorrendo il dito sulla montatura, alcune Cards pre-impostate, come il meteo, i risultati sportivi, le ultime notizie". E' sufficiente poi dire "Ok Glass" per attivare il dispositivo e a quel punto diventa possibile registrare un video di 10 secondi o scattare una foto, ma per ora niente di più.   Per un funzionamento ottimale, i Glass hanno bisogno di una connessione Wi-Fi, ma possono essere utilizzati anche senza essere connessi.   Si vocifera di un'uscita sul mercato per fine 2013 e l'ufficializzazione di un nome lascia ben sperare ma, essendo ancora in una fase sperimentale, non resta che attendere. Google cambia ufficialmente il nome dei suoi Project Glass in "Google Glass" Google officially changes the name from Project Glass to "Google Glass" We have always called them Google Glass, "mistakenly" it appears, since till now Google's augmented reality glasses were known as Project Glass.   But just a few days ago Google made "Google Glass" their official name, perhaps to indicate that it is no longer a "project" but a reality. In fact, the glasses have been tested several times, for example, by Maurizio Pesce of "Wired" magazine, who wore them for a whole day in New York City. Mr. Pesce reported that they are in no way intrusive and "when left in stand-by mode, they display the time and, by running a finger across the frame, they display some pre-set Cards like the weather, sports results and the latest news." Just saying "Ok Glass" will activate the device and then you can record a 10 second-long video or take a photo, but that's all, for the moment.   For optimal operation, Google Glass need Wi-Fi connection but they can also be used without any connection.   It's rumored that they will be on the market by end 2013 and making the name official is a hopeful sign. But as they are still at the experimental stage, all we can do is wait!
